We started in your GIS. We never really left.

Cliffhanger Solutions is an operational-intelligence company for utilities. We build the Logos platform and the Atlas field workbench, and we've been doing product and consulting work inside utility GIS since 2012.

The gap between the office and the field is fixable.

We came up through the Smallworld side of utility GIS and kept seeing the same thing: engineering teams spending months getting the network model right, and field crews driving out with an export that was already out of date. When crews found something wrong, the correction could take weeks to reach anyone able to act on it. That gap is what this company was built to close, without asking anyone to replace the systems they already own.

Where we are

Gilbert, Arizona. Poolesville, Maryland. Madrid, Spain. And in the field with utilities across seven countries.

How we work

Product and consulting, one team. The people who build the platform are the people on your deployment, not a sales layer with engineers behind glass.

What we believe

Keep the systems you own, fix one workflow at a time, and make sure what the field finds actually reaches the system of record. If the first crew to use a workbench doesn't like it, nothing else we say matters.

Why "Cliffhanger".

John Boere, founder of Cliffhanger Solutions

The name gets asked about a lot. It comes from the TV kind of cliffhanger: in this industry, vendors leave clients hanging all the time. A half-finished migration here, an abandoned integration there. We kept getting called in to clean up those endings, so we named the company after them.

We started in 2010. The first real client came in 2012, the year Hurricane Sandy hit the Northeast, and that first Atlas deployment went straight into the recovery: real crews, a damaged network, and no patience for software that gets in the way. It held up, and it kept crucial data in front of the people doing the work. That set the bar for everything since: if it doesn't help the person standing in the weather, it doesn't ship.

The Short Version
  1. 2010

    Founded.

  2. 2012

First real client. Hurricane Sandy put that first Atlas deployment straight into a live storm recovery, and it held.

  3. The years since

Atlas grew from that pilot into a field workbench running in production at utilities across seven countries, with 450M+ assets tracked.

  4. 2026

The engine underneath Atlas got a name of its own: Logos, the operational intelligence platform, with a suite of workbenches on top.

A small team with deep roots.

Smallworld internals, Magik, VMDS, mobile, and field operations. Meet the team behind the platform, or see the utilities we work with.

Pilot to Production

Bring us the workflow that hurts most.

The first deployment proved itself in a hurricane. Yours can prove itself somewhere else: one workflow, one team, a baseline from day one.
