The integration of AR into the processes of pole inspection enables automated visual inspections to be conducted with remarkable efficiency and scale. However, it is important to note that while AR excels in visual diagnostics, it does not extend to evaluating the structural integrity of poles—a critical factor considering that structural faults are a predominant cause of pole failures.

To address this, field technicians must be dispatched to perform in-depth analyses, utilizing tools such as resistographs to collect core samples for structural assessment. Given that technicians are present on-site, they have the capability to carry out comprehensive visual evaluations, complete standardized inspection forms with detailed findings, and, if necessary, execute minor repairs to prevent further issues, thereby potentially obviating the need for subsequent visits. This completely eliminates the need for AR for this process.

Our platform, Atlas, is designed to streamline and enhance the efficiency of this process. It orchestrates the inspection workflow by guiding the technician through a location-based inspection routine. This includes the acquisition of resistograph samples, which Atlas can analyze in real-time to provide immediate feedback to the inspector. Additionally, the platform allows for the seamless integration of inspection data, photographic evidence, and other relevant information via a mobile device, fostering a highly optimized and productive operational model at a significant lower cost.
